The Kamloops Broncos are currently sitting at 0-6 games in the 2021 season. The Canadian Junior Football team continues to fumble the ball winning only 4 games since 2016. With a lack of junior football programs in local high schools the team struggles to fill its roster. Many existing players are young and underdeveloped due to the lack of programs that have a direct impact on the teams future success and local draft options. The franchise is being kept afloat through sponsorship, attendance and player registration and the lack of scholarship opportunities with the Broncos has pushed promising local talent to other teams in the league.

The question must be asked if a lack of support from the local community has had an impact on the Broncos success? The absence of funding for local high school football programs has impacted students’ ability to develop their skills, leaving them unprepared with little to no technical skills as they hit the field. The scarcity of team advertising around player opportunities has had a negative impact on awareness of the team, making it difficult to attract players from other regions and provinces that bring a new degree of skill and dedication to the franchise. The team continues to stay positive despite the streak of losses approaching their final games of the season. The Broncos will play the Langley Rams on Saturday, October 3rd and close the season in a home game against the Westshore Rebels on October 30th.
